It’s game on for holiday shopping!
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday kicking off holiday shopping on both sides of the border, it’s time to crack open the wallet and get the party started.
“In Canada, 49% of males and 50% of females say that they shop online … with 64% of Canadians stating that the convenience of shopping at home motivates them to shop online, particularly during the holiday season,” says Drew Green, a co-founder of SHOP.CA, a Canadian online shopping destination.
Whether you shop from home or prefer the sensory experience and traditional hustle and bustle of shopping in store, finding gifts for your BFF, girlfriend, mom or other fashionably inclined woman in your life is top priority.
Even if you’re not entirely sure what your favourite gal pals might like, having a seemingly infinite array of fashion accessories, fragrances, beauty items and jewelry to choose from can help make shopping easier. Also, it practically guarantees your gift will be well received.
“A gift of jewelry is one of the best and most personal gifts to receive and one to wear and treasure for years. The Sublissime bracelets from my collection are one of my personal favourites that I often suggest (for gifting),” says Caroline Neron, the lead designer at Caroline Neron jewelry.
Wrap up gold, rose gold and all combinations of mixed metals in sparkling and semi-precious pendants, rings, bracelets, earrings and watches as well as sparkling fashion offerings like scarves, tops and bags.
“A chic, beaded clutch or statement necklaces make gifts that really shine,” notes Eve Miron, RW & Co’s fashion director.
Scarves and shawls, fancy tights, belts, shoes, hats and gloves are also certain to bring smiles on Christmas morning.
“A scarf can make a beautiful holiday gift,” says fashion designer Anu Raina, whose striking printed silk scarves were such a hit that MasterCard recently purchased 80 scarves for their clients at Fashion Week in Toronto.
“Scarves and shawls are very popular this season,” says Louise Dirks, owner of gravitypope, the fashion-forward boutique opening Friday on Queen St. W. in Toronto, after years of success in Vancouver and other western cities.
“Shearling hats … and gloves as well as every length of premium leather glove, from short wrist-zip driving gloves to long vintage button gloves, like those we have from the famous Italian glove maker Mario Portolano,” are among the other gift suggestions from Dirks.
Real and faux fur hats and scarves, fancy velvet and brocade jeans, jackets, shoes and cozy boots will keep the women in your life warm and cozy all winter long.
If you’re searching for smaller gift ideas, you might consider sparkling shoe clips, classic and new fragrances, scented candles, fancy soaps and other toiletries and cosmetics.
No-fail cosmetic gifts include blockbuster makeup palettes, premium brush sets and hair appliances, glittering and fancy coloured nail polishes, lip colours and fancy novelties such as rhinestone edged eyelashes and stick-on cat-eye eyeliner appliqués.
